Opening Start9 and getting to the dashboard

Connect your computer or phone to the same network as Start9, then open the local address or hostname shown during setup. Sign in with the account you created for the server.

Installing Bitcoin node software

Open the Start9 Marketplace, search for Bitcoin, and choose Bitcoin Core or Bitcoin Knots. Make sure you have enough storage space and a stable internet connection, then follow Start9’s instructions.

Bitcoin Core vs Bitcoin Knots on Start9

Both run a full Bitcoin node. Bitcoin Core is the standard choice. Bitcoin Knots gives you more settings and control.

Checking sync progress and node connections

Open the Bitcoin service page to see whether your node has finished syncing and how many other Bitcoin nodes it is connected to. The first sync can take a long time, so keep Start9 powered on and connected to the internet.

Finding node settings

Open the Bitcoin service’s Settings, Configuration, or Properties page. This is where you can find your network, storage, pruning, and connection settings.

Networking basics

P2P is how your node connects to other Bitcoin nodes. RPC is used by trusted apps that connect to your node. RPC should not be exposed to the public internet.

Common Start9 troubleshooting

If something is not working, first check the service status, internet connection, available storage, and logs. Restart the service only if needed. If your node is still syncing, give it more time.
