Node will not start

If your node will not start, first check that it has power, enough storage space, and no recent setting changes. Change only one thing at a time.

Node is not synchronizing

If your node is not syncing, check its internet connection, available storage, and connections to other Bitcoin nodes. The first sync can take a long time.

No or very few peer connections

If your node has few or no connections to other Bitcoin nodes, first check the internet connection and make sure the node is running. Give it some time to reconnect before changing settings.

Node appears offline

If the node appears offline, check power, the local network connection, and whether the node can be reached from its dashboard.

Storage or disk-space problems

Check that the drive holding your Bitcoin data has enough free space. A full drive can stop syncing or prevent the node from starting.

Incorrect date/time or system clock

Make sure the device has the correct date, time, and time zone. An incorrect clock can interfere with syncing and network connections.

Network, router, firewall, or port problems

If connections are not working, check your local network, router or firewall settings, and the port shown by your node software. Most beginners do not need port forwarding.

What to check in the node logs

Logs can show errors related to startup, connections, storage, or settings. Never share passwords, tokens, cookies, or other private login information from a log.

Restarting only when necessary

Check the node’s status and settings before restarting. Restarting will not fix a full drive, blocked connection, or incorrect setting.

When to use NodeGuide’s AI screenshot analysis

Use NodeGuide AI when the dashboard shows an error, stalled sync, connection problem, or setting you do not understand. Remove passwords, private keys, API keys, RPC credentials, and other private information before uploading.
