What Bitcoin Knots — BLAKE2b is

This is a version of Bitcoin Knots built to run on a separate blockchain network that uses BLAKE2b for mining instead of Bitcoin’s standard SHA-256 system.

Why the BLAKE2b chain exists

This is a separate blockchain with different mining rules. It does not replace standard Bitcoin.

Different mining systems

Standard Bitcoin uses SHA-256 for mining. The BLAKE2b network uses a different mining system and may require different equipment.

A separate network from standard Bitcoin

The BLAKE2b network is separate from standard Bitcoin mainnet. Activity on one network does not automatically appear on the other.

Mining equipment compatibility

Mining equipment must support the BLAKE2b network. Standard Bitcoin SHA-256 mining equipment may not work with it.

Make sure you are on the correct network

Before syncing or mining, confirm that your software, node connections, pool, and network settings are all intended for BLAKE2b. Stop if anything appears to be using standard Bitcoin mainnet instead.

BLAKE2b setup guidance is available in the guided setup flow.
